Did you know that toxicity can lead to all sought of physical and psychological problems if not properly addressed? When too many things are out of place in your home or the people in your social circle just have way too much going on within themselves – it’s time to clean up the mess.
Here are some tips on how you can take action.
(1) do a clean sweep of the contacts in your phone and start blocking the folks who are toxic and are renting your space for free since you are the only one paying with your sanity.
(2) spend a day decluttering your home and I don’t mean moving items from one place to another, if you haven’t worn it or used it in a very long time, it means you don’t need it. Pack it up in a bag and donate it – someone will appreciate it.
(3) Splurge on yourself. Not sure how? Below is one of the ways that I splurge as part of my self-care.
I buy myself a small ice cream cake, grill myself a big fat juicy steak, decorate my kitchen table setting the stage for my party. After I stuff my face, I take a nice bubble bath, burn some of my custom-made scented candles, and turn on my slow jam music as I sip on some wine while soaking in the tub. After bathing, I crawl into bed and my body adjusts to some soft cotton sheets. Ah! always such a good night’s sleep.
You should also consider getting a journal and writing down something you’re grateful for over the next 30 days.
It’s okay to focus on yourself and prioritize your sanity and karma. Being selfish can be positive when you do not allow yourself to feel guilty. Try it and I would love for you to share your journey in the comment section.
